The Portuguese Venice: this is another name for Aveiro. The reason that there are canals right in its center.
The city is also known for its typical boats: moliceiros, and its salinas (places to take the salt from the sea).
Nearby is Costa Nova beach and definitely worth a visit. Here most houses have colourful stripes. São Jacinto dunes is a natural reserve and also worth a visit.
