If there is a heaven on earth, it is this, it is this, it is this...

Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan, a little known and tiny Himalayan kingdom nestled between North Eastern India and Tibet. Bhutan is a fascinating place to visit, particulary because its isolation for hundreds of years (there was no TV till a few years ago) has ensured that its culture and people remain very unique. The country is amazingly beautiful, most of it is part of the middle Himalayan ranges, with the few inhabited places being located in valleys.

Favourite spots:
Paro (the only town with an airport) - stay at the Olathang for an unbeatable view. Sambara bar in Thimphu (I have heard that it has closed down, though), Tatsang monastery, xxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxx

What's really great:
the food, the people (extremely friendly to strangers), the climate, the landscape, the landing at Paro airport, all drives,

Accommodations:
Olathang Hotel, paro

Hangouts:
Sambara bar, Thimphu

Restaurants:
Sambara bar, Thimphu
