Never rated before

Dear Melissa,
I have rated this picture according to the criteria as I under stand them from discussion in forum some weeks ago.

the picture is very workwo/man like and conveys the information in a very clear forma without being one that "I could look at for ever"
The bonus star comes from the exotic location and the information about empresses that i did not know before

Thanks for responding

Melissa,
Great to hear from you. I have always wanted to return to Turkey, and survive by teaching English. I'm sure that I would only need to show up, and I'd find a job, since I have a Master's Degree in Communication. Do you plan to stay in China for a while?

The TV job was for a native English speaking person, to proofread the scripts, before they went on the air, and to look for errors in cultural expression. I would have loved it!

I would really like to see some photos of the area you live in. Just the common everyday things are fascinating to someone who has never seen them.

How fortunate for you to be able to visit Tibet! I'm sure there are wonderful place to see. Buddhism takes on a different flavor in Tibet, but it is still the same old Buddhism. Hope you write about that trip!

Ciao, Jim

Thanks for the report

Hi Melissa,

The report on Xi'an, China was very interesting. A few years ago there was an exhibit of the Terracotta Warriors at the art museum in Portland, Oregon, US. There were several of the actual statues, as well as other antiquities. I still have the small replica of one of the statues.

There was a time when I considered a job in Beijing with the english language TV station. As it turned out, a Canadian was hired, which at the time was a better political choice anyway. I noticed from your photo that you are not Chinese. Are you working there? Have you moved from Beijing to Xi'an?

I am a practicing Tibetan Buddhist, for the last 10 years, and my feelings about China are now politically influenced by the Tibetan history. Still, China is a treasure of history, culture and art. At last, it is available to the rest of the world. I'm sure that it must have bee thrilling to stand among those ancient warriors!

Thanks again, Jim

Dear Melissa,

Thank you so much for your friendship request, I am glad to accept! I also want to take the opportunity to tell you that your recent Travel Log entry really inspired me.

I admire you so much for what you have accomplished, both in your determination to get a good education and to fulfill your dreams of deeply experiencing a culture radically different from your own.

You are a great example of what many more Americans should do.

Thank you!

Liz
