your Bolivia album is fantastic (and long overdue!).
Hope you are well. Where are you off to next?
I've just come back from yet another vistit to Germany, but this time we managed to travel around for a bit as we went to a wedding in Munich and visited relatives in Frankfurt.

Hi Rafal,
Fine slideshow Rafal. I love those mountains and those old trains which it seems would take a miracle to get them running again.Nice viewing.
All the best
Fred.

for your congrats on the AoM award. It was absolutely surprising to get it - I thought Krys' fabulous Venice album or Ralph's stunning Pakistani trucks would win for sure. I am very glad. :)
Have a nice weekend - take care - Petra
Thank you for your note. First of all I am happy to have left China in one piece. I did expect pollution and crowds in China, so there was no surprise for me about that. I was disappointed with people's attitude towards others, though, which shocked me a little. But I did see the same in India, so this was not new to me.
I really liked some of the places in China, but having been to so many different places around the world, I realise that I am now very difficult to impress. Also, I have been to many Chinatowns around the world, and our own in London is although tiny, but great, plus Hong Kong and Macau, which reduced the shock to the system about the mainland China.
This was an interesting holiday, some of which I really enjoyed. I think I would have enjoyed China had I gone to more rural places, where things would surely have been more authentic. I don't think I will be doing such trip anytime soon, however. Albeit, it will remain on the wish list.
I have not been very active on globo recently - too much work, too little time, not enough travel.
We went home to Germany for a week in June, basically because we didn't have the money to go anywhere else and also, more importantly, we hadn't seen our families since September 2008!
In 3 weeks time we are going to Germany again, first to Munich for a wedding and to visit a friend, then to Cologne to visit another friend and after that home to Bad Berleburg for a week. One day we'll also be going to Frankfurt to visit my brother-in-law and his family.
As for my next 'proper' trip - we'll be going to Greece for 9 days in October, to the Peleponnese and Athens. We are planning to visit Olympia and Sparta, Mycenae and Mystras and drive through the mountains and visit an island or two. I do hope for some nice weather, this summer has been a complete wash-out over here.

thank you for your comment. You are right and the way this country is talked about makes me angry. I found relaxed friendly people, self-confident and polite, open-minded too. I felt safe and welcome. As a woman I didn't feet threatened. Besides that it is a wonderful country.
