An alternative way of getting to the USA from Europe is by Icelandair, that splits a long flight and one gets to see two great cities. Boston is wonderful, a very old city and yet playground for young students!

Hub of Massachusetts, established in 1630, Boston became the intellectual centre of the new world, printed the first colonial newspaper, Harvard opened 1635, MIT is a global centre of learning. No wonder then , Boston got involved, right in the beginning, with the revolution and USA civil war; Boston Tea Party 1773, where locals dressed as Indians dumped hundreds of crates of tea in the harbour to prevent a monopoly, Battle of Bunker Hill.

Ice Sculptures at Boston Common

Boston Common with Frog Pond and Gardens overlooked by State House, on that winter day (end of December) there was an ice modelling contest. The sculptures were beautifully lit up at night showing crystal-like characteristics and lot of creativity. The sculpture at the back was so big that one could walk through it!

Quick and easy access to the city by rail or ferry, great when one is waiting for a connecting flight.
The Freedom Trail, a 4km inner-city hike marked well by red brick or painted stripe along the way. It links sixteen of the most important city’s historical sites like Bunker Hill, Paul Reveres House, Kings Chapel, Granary Burial Ground and Boston Common.

The Computer Museum was a must. It shows much more than the small displays in Europe i’ve seen. Has a great shop too, bought some any-keys, sponge mouses (mice?) CD-ROMs, videos, holograms and other computer-nerd stuff!
