Lilongwe is the capital of Malawi with a lively trade in almost anything you can imagine but what struck me most was that you don't see elderly people anywhere. It seems to be that I was the oldest male walking around in downtown Lilongwe. Life expectancy has dropped to a shocking 33...

Besides the lively market their is not much of interest in the city. Better to go to Lake Malawi or to the Nyika plateau!

| What's really great: |
The Nyika plateau is the best in Malawi. It's isolated, lush and at high elevation that make you think you are somewhere in Europe.
