Shiraz - Iran, Fårs The UNESCO declared the citadel of Persepolis a World Heritage Site in 1979. Persepolis is also one of the 80 treasures featured on Around the World in 80 Treasures presented by Dan Cruickshank. In 1971, Persepolis was the main staging ground for the 2,500 year celebration of Iran's monarchy.

globocouple - May, 19 2010 06:05am the world ruin might not be what you mean here bagher,i suppose you wanted to say remains,right? krisek - May, 19 2010 08:05am 'Ruins' is an appropriate word to describe the current state of Persepolis, following the actions of the Alexander the Great - 'ruins' is not a derogatory term in this context; 'remains' is also a good word. I am not sure 'citadel' is an accurate word here, since the entire city of Persepolis was inscribed as a World Heritage Site, with all of its buildings.
