One of the Open Museum's most famous images is the beetle or locust representing Satan, his arms raised in futile defense against the forces of God symbolized by the two crosses. Below are the mounted figures of Sts. Theodore and George in traditional style, unrestored. These paintings are simple red ochre painted directly on to rock.
