Goreme - The Dark Church's by siffer

Goreme - Turkey, Nev¶ehir The most famous rock cut church in goreme is named for the extremely limited natural light - only a single window illuminates the interior. The church dates to the late 12th C and uses more modern construction techniques - free standing columns supporting a a multi-domed ceiling. The original exterior rock wall has fallen away over the centuries, and the previously hidden exterior carved wall of the church is now visible.
