Memorial to the Slain Politicians's by siffer

Berlin - Germany, Berlin Hitler used the Reichstag fire to gain totalitarian control over Germany despite winning less than 40% of the popular vote. The fire got rid of the Communist opposition - a young mentally unstable Dutch Communist was beheaded for the crime, although modern historians suggest it was begun by the Nazis themselves. To dispose of remaining political opposition, Hitler would summarily execute or remove to prison camps and ultimate death 96 important political enemies. In front of the Reichstag, a memorial with 96 vertically oriented slate slabs has been erected in their memory.
