Semper Opera House Main Entrance's by siffer

Dresden - Germany, Sachsen The cupola overlooking the main entrance to the opera house features the three Graces - daughters of Zeus representing joy, charm, and beauty - as well as images of his son Apollo the god of music and poetry and Marsyas, the flute playing satyr. On the roof, the front end of a quadriga drawn by four panthers carrying Dionysius the Greek god of art and his lover Ariadne. Semper Opera House tours begin at 1430 pretty much daily with long lines beginning an hour earlier. The tours are only in German but both the guide and the other people taking the tour help with English as much as possible. English speakers are given a printed description but there is to much to see for reading.
