Towers of the Charles Bridge's by siffer

Prague - Czech Republic, Hlavni Mesto Praha The dominant Gothic style tower at the Old Town end of the Charles Bridge was completed in 1380 as a defense system against northern invaders ( successful against a Swedish attack in the 17 C). The city-side contains multiple statues of saints, angels, and 14 C kings. It was from this tower that the severed heads of the executed Protestant lords were hung after their loss to the Catholic kings at the Battle of White Mountain in 1618. The throngs of tourists at this site, as pictured, is never ending.
