Vermeer's View of Delft's by siffer

Delft - Netherlands, Zuid-Holland Seven years after the Delft explosion which levelled much of the city (1654), Vermeer painted the rebuilt city - even though we know him mostly for his portraits, it was this painting which established his fame. His mastery of light is nowhere more evident. Some art experts consider it the greatest landscape of the 17th C.
