prague in winter |

not to be missed on any European tour-after visiting many of the great cities in Europe, I would rate Prague as one of the best---something to engage just about any taste

-have only visited for 3 days in the winter, stayed in the old section and ran out of time to see and do everything in this area---great street life, architecture, inexpensive dining and shopping----summer there must be superb

| Favourite spots: |
bridge to the castle-great photo ops and local artists, large square in the old section with its vendor stalls and entertainment-
| What's really great: |
traditional dining, jewelry and scarf shopping, and the contrast between the old and newer more modern sections of the city
| Accommodations: |
Hotel Ametyst - very nice and convenient to everything----one thing though ---if traveling with group(ie. arriiving via bus) bus can't navigate narrow street to hotel door. We had to carry, wheel, and schlep our own luggage over the icy cobblestone streets for 1.5 blocks to the hotel door--minor inconvenience for the able bodied.

make sure to walk up to the castle and to the old military site at the very top of the hill---still had the feel of communist influence(2003)
