Antequera is linked to Málaga by frequent buses and might provide an alternative for your first or last night, if you are using Málaga airport.
It's a fine town with an old castle remains at the top givinng a wonderful view over the town rooftops with extensive olive plantations beyond. In the opposite direction you look out to the mountains.
The town is well provided with shops and has a small market but it has two particular claims to fame. one is a tripartite claim as it has three dolmens. The other is a fabulous natural site, El Torcal de Antequera. This consists of rock outcrops on a major top with the most remarkable and beautiful shapes. Apparently this no longer feels like the end of the world [except for its well waymarked walks] but it now has a visitor's centre. [edit text][editors]
