For most people Tenerife seems to be all about beaches and sunbathing as well as all-night party scene, but it's only one face of this stunning island. Only few know it has much more to offer. A large part of the island is protected as a national park and there are many protected reserves.
Tenerife has excellent trekking opportunities. The most popular ones are within the Parque Nacional del Teide with the great climb of Mt Teide - the highest mountain in Spain (3718).
Tenerife also boast vast cultural heritage with pyramids in the Mesoamerican style (but far less impressive), charming old town of La Laguna with colorful colonial architecture and many off-the-beaten-track chapels. [edit text][editors]
