Ainsa is a small town to the east of the Ordesa National Park in the Aragon Pyrenees, connected by minibus [and baggage trailer!] with Torla and Sabaņanigo. Arrival at the main crossroads could well cause initial disappointment as there is no sign of any major interest. However there is a footpath up to the monumental area above and arrival here is very different. There is a huge square, semi-arcaded, with fascinating old buildings all around and two roads which can scarcely have changed in a few hundred years leading steeply downwards from the end where the church is situated.
