Aracena is a high town in Huelva Province. The Sierra de Aracena is, in effect, the western end of the Sierra Morena, which separates Andalucía from the rest of Spain for a long distance. However it gets its own name and is prettier than much of the Sierra Morena, having beautiful hilltops, often crowned by churches, castles, or towers.
Aracena itself is an attractive town, with a castle ruins and a lovely church that has Mudejar ornamentation at the top. The favourite sight in the town, though, would seem to be a cave, the Gruta de las Meravillas.
It's on the bus route from Sevilla to Lisbon. [edit text][editors]
