Whereas the cty of Huelva lacks interest in comparison with most of Andalucía's other provicial capitals, it's presence here enables a short eulogy on the much neglected province.
There are two area at least that are most attractive to visit. The first is the Doñana bird reserve. The four hour official trips in four-by-four minibuses are terrific and will astonish anybody who thinks all Spanish coasts have been ruined by tourist building. The village of El Rocío is immenely attractive.
The other area is the Sierra de Aracena, the far western end of the Sierra Morena, that separates Andalucía from the rest of Spain. Whereas the area lacks the magnificence of some other mountain regions, it is extremely pretty, hot on wildlife and interesting for its historic hilltop buildings. Almonaster la Real and Cortegana are particularly attractive villages and Jabugo claims the best cured ham in Spain. [edit text][editors]
