Ripoll is a small town in the Catalonian Pyrenees. There is a station on the railway line from Barcelona to Puigcerda or it can be reached by bus from Gerona. If you look smart, there's time to get in to see the principal sight between trians and still reach Ribes Freser, nearer to Puigcerda, in time to take the rack railway up to Nuria. You can use a ticket from Sants station in Barcelona that covers all the rail and the cable car up from the rail terminus at Nuria, entrance to the monastery there and some activities.
