Sevilla [Seville] is the capital not only of its own province but of all Andalucía. It is, along with Salamanca and Barcelona, one of the grandest cities in Spain.
As you stand near the massive Gothic cathedral and the Guadalquivir River, it's only too easy to imagine the ships of the early explorers and the Conquistadores coming up loaded with precious metals. The vast size of the cathedral doesn't, in this case, lead to vulgarity and the Giralda, belltower of a previous Gothic mosque before having the same role for the cathedral is wonderful. The seventeen inclines are gentle enough to accommodate the needs of even the moderately disabled.
