Travel guide to Tuy
Tuy is in Galicia, the nearest stop to Valença in Portugal on the rail line from Vigo to Porto. The suspension bridge between the two is attributed to Eiffel.
Tuy's only sight of note, other than this is its cathedral, which was fortified against border incursions and in many ways seems more akin to a castle from outside. [Valença, across the valey leaves no doubt; it has remains of a large castle.Tuy's station is only used on that line, although there's one nearby on the line between Vigo and Pontevedra out to Ourense, and eventually Madrid. By bus it lies on the line from Vigo to A Guarda, a pleasant village on the far southwest of Galicia.
Tuy is a really good place to stay if you want to combine Spain and Portugal by public transport. The timing of the trains makes staying in Portugal for this very much lower as an option. [edit text]  [editors]
