Galle Face Hotel 
Old Colonial, beautifully furnished-hotel, in downtown Colombo. Faces the beachfront and wonderful open space Galle Green. Redesigned by Sri Lanka's foremost architect. The terrace is undoubtedly the best place to watch the sunset in Colombo. more

Mount Lavinia Hotel 
Old Colonial Hotel - Former British Governors weekend retreat. Several wings offering bay and garden rooms around $100 US per night. The cheaper "Governors Wing" is not as plush and offers rooms at US$50. Own private Beach. Good range of restaurants. Great place to watch the sunsets whilst enjoying a drink. Lovely colonial ambience and pretty internal gardens. more

Colombo Hilton Hotel 
My favourite Hilton. Cheap by International standards and excellent service and restaurants. Spoons Restaurant ofers outstanding food at seriously low prices. The Echelon pub is the best in Colombo and again offers excellent food at great prices. Try the lamb shank for real food at a low price. more
