Hi Ravi. I partially agree but server space was a problem even just three years ago. With the price of hard-disks going down rapidly and their capacity and efficiency/speed gone up, this should not be a problem anymore. Also, the "premium" option of membership is there to cover costs of that.
There are though a lot of unfocused pictures worthy of being only thumbnails. Dull or plain pictures I tollerate, often due to just the real subject or current weather conditions. Also, some pictures just do not have the correct title or description so rated low, or they might be the only that the member or GLOBO has on a particular place or subject.
I considered what * (2 pictures) and ** (68 pictures) low-rate pictures I should delete (see www.globosapiens.net/rangutan/pictures__319.html ) but they are all valuable TRAVEL pictures to me (sorry the "me" opinion), perhaps no members like them or maybe theyre low-rated because of some kind of small defect like not enough colour or too grainy or a bit too personal. I looked at your pictures and like them all, please dont delete any of them.
The rating system is brilliant, it takes care of the above points but I dont think one-star pictures are necessarily unwanted pics, neither not travel related, they are deleted anyway by staff if really not suitable, two of my shots have been too!
Agree, (very few) members should look at their pictures closely again, perhaps re-scan or re-digitalize to improve them. The nice thing about uploading new, the pictures are rated from scratch.
I once suggested a "zero" option for rating but that idea was squashed. I realize now that starting at 1, instead of 0, with the ratings means that all TRAVEL pictures are atleast considered honourable and given a chance at GLOBO.
