Has there even been a discussion on having a section for road trips? I know that when I travel, I tend to go on long road trips, and while I might not visit any great city or town, the whole trip is better than say a flight to LA to see Disneyland (IMHO).

I know that there are travel reports and the travellog sections, which together kind of cover this. But travel reports are too specific, and travellogs are only read if someone really digs around your profile.

For example, this summer I drove from Edmonton to Kelowna, then into Idaho, went through Montana and then returned to Alberta. The biggest place I visited had maybe 50,000 people and none of them would make for a decent report at all. I've written some stuff for my travellog, but with only one pic per entry, it's not very inspiring.

I don't know what others think, but I know that this is how many North Americans do at least some of their travelling. I'm sure European and Australian members might also benefit from a section like this.

I think something like this would essentially be a larger travel report with more pictures allowed and a different set of sections (you don't find many nightclubs in the Rockies). If bandwidth is a problem, then only make it a feature that only those with 500 or 1000 Globo points can access.

I love the road. One is somewhat free and flexible to travelling, not like by plane or rail. Accomodations never a problem, small hotels and guestrooms between cities are rarely full, except if there a wedding in town - which happened once outside Berlin! I like the choice between freeway and country road depending on time or the country side, like round trips, two of which I love most:

4-DAY-ALPS: Munich - Lindau(Bodensee) - Schwarzwald(Black-Forest) - Basel - Como(Lake) - Garda(Lake) - Bolzana - Innsbruck - Munich

4-DAY-CAPE: Johannesburg - Kimberley - Cape Town - Knysna - Port Elizabeth - Bloemfontein - Johannesburg

Hi James

I too, do travel most of the time this way.

Not only by car sometimes on bicycle, on motorbike or on foot...

My two top rated reports are both about several places we were on a route. I think Andy is planing on reports about regions like national parks ...

What I did is take the most appopriate city and write about the trip.

I did use all the text boxes but didn't stick to the suggested content of the box I mostly explained that in the first phrase of each section.

I just did a road trip on a $20 dare. (go to Lumby BC take a pic of the welcome signs)

It's 10 hrs from Edmonton and you have to travel through Banff, the interior mts to Vernon and then south to Lumby. It took 2 days with stopovers in Banff. I did it just because I had nothing going on for weekend. Very beautiful place but it is very small I will write it in my report . Although it isn't spectacular by "tourist" means, the trip was nice enough through the Interior Mts and into the Okanagan.

p.s. collected my $ tonight.

I think a section on road trips would be very convenient now we can only write about one city.

Andy, would it be possible to give us a road trip format?
