Since this digital revolution is still ongoing...

I would like to resubmit my idea of having short films uploaded. (nothing fancy, just 5 mb max per film or so)

I created some small teaser movies back in 2001/2002, when the whole globosapiens site was just emerging. At that time there were no concrete ideas about adding video.

I might imagine I would get a bit more support now, I hope!?!?

Maurice

(see some samples on mdeboer.hopto.org in the Australia part... but these are all VERY low quality)

Hello Maurice,

thank your for your suggestion. You are right, the digital revolution is ongoing... however I must say that straming of videos would be no relation between benefit and costs. Storing it, and making backups is one thing (and for sure not easy to handle!) Another thing is traffic costs. If you have a business model at hand which would show how those bandwith costs would be companseted I have all my ears up and listening. GLOBO is creating about 50Gig on traffic each month - and this is just with pictures of an average size of 30 KB! Imagine what would happen if we would stream videos?! I am sure people storing the videos on GLOBO (that would be you for example) would not pay for this. Same goes for those watching it. Advertising would not even cover the cost if you click during the video on 4 sponserd links - and how often do you click on those links? :-) You see my point? Development of this tool is not even calculated inside this example.

Sorry... we'll see what the future brings!

Andy

[before I joined] 3 years later:

We might "sister" up with sites like at

I see the interest and a market for amateur videos clips, not the old long hours and hours of private tourist film but the highlights of maximum 1 minute long per travel target and location that can be called up in a databank of places like at GLOBO and compliment reports and pictures.
