Luxor travelogue picture
Luxor is everything you dream Egypt to be. It is a massive museum that extends from Karnak to the Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple to Islam. It has absolutely everything here. Luxor tends to define why Egypt calls itself, The mother of civilization.

Favourite spots:

Karnak can not be described in words, but I will try. Absolutely massive columns standing five stories high that are so big around, if you were to try to hug them, your arms would not begin to bend. The standing statues throughout the temple comlex, give you a feeling that you are constantly being watched. There is still colored paint from the designs on the walls that decorate throughout.

What's really great:

Everything is still here! That is what I liked the most. You can still see and touch the hieroglyphics, go in Tutankamin's tomb, explore, hike, anything and everything!

Sights:

Ramses VI tomb is a must. It is unbelievable how perfectly preserved the tomb is. Not a scratch of paint is missing. It is still colored throughout the entire tomb. Without a doubt, this is the top tomb to enter. I heard from many that King Tut's tomb is not that interesting (esp. for the 100 USD entrance fee!)

Picture to the right is the entrance to the Valley of the Kings.

Accommodations:

There are hostels and hotels for all budgets. I never book ahead and I had absolutely zero problems booking a room.

Picture here is a mock sword fight in downtown Luxor.

Other recommendations:

Be sure to do, Karnak, Valley of the Kings/Queens, Queen Haptsuset's (sp?). It is really convenient to get a small group together and hire a guide. I am usually independent when it comes to tour guides, but there is much too much to take in with out some help!

Picture is of the Avenue of Sphinx's. Entering into Karnak.
