The further east you go...

Prague travelogue picture
The further east you go in Europe, the more magical it becomes. You really get the feeling that batman should live in the gothic-esque city. The original city of Prague was set up in line with the constellations by seven (?) monks. As Prague grew, its citizens refused to tear down the old buildings and preferred to build around them. This being said, if you want to walk from point A to point B, it may take as much as an hour to go one block. The streets crisscross and wind through narrow passage ways. It is easy to get lost, but this just makes for a fun adventure.

Favourite spots:

The Charles Bridge in downtown Prague is a fun hangout for everyone. We grabbed a six-pack of beer, sat down in the park on the river by the bridge and enjoyed the afternoon people watching. Keep an eye out for a little devil man that paints hundreds of portraits of himself for out of this world prices. You can't miss him. Of course, the castle and cathedral are utterly stunning. Going to the main square at night and watching the clock show is also a fun way to spend the evening (also shown below on right).

What's really great:

Prague has a unique feeling to it because it's gothic feel is like nothing else. Gargoyles guard the bridge and several buildings as well as obviously the castles and churches. Another nice thing is the women. I mean this compeletly respectfully, but the further east you go, the more beautiful they are! Just an observation.

Accommodations:

A wide array of places to stay for every budget. The hostels closer to the Charles Bridge go first.

Nightlife:
The Dungeon is a great place to hangout in the main square. Gets pretty crazy. Several others in the square as well.

Hangouts:

Fun pub at night. Right by the Charles Bridge on the side facing the cathedral, there is an internet cafe by a huge standing tree. In the same building as the cafe, there is a fun bar that always plays football (soccer) games and good music.
