The Slipway 
Nice rooms in one of the best and safest areas 10 minutes out of town. Lots of restaurants and shops just outside the door, and departure point for the boat to the "Robinsoe Crusoe island" Bongoyo. USD 80 for a double. Very good value for money. more

Sea Cliff Hotel 
The hotel is situated about 15 min outside the city centre by car. Several restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood. A rather expencive, but very good hotel. more

National Museum 
Tanzanian history, culture: prehistoric fossils, colonialism and independence. And a wooden bicycle more

Village Museum 
Traditional houses from different ethnic groups. Dance performances in the afternoon more

Keys Hotel 
Keys Hotel is not a typical tourist hotel. In the first place it is a business hotel. The bar is frequented by business man on their way home from work and it is a good place to meet people. There are suites US$20, breakfast is included and budget rooms US$8 without breakfast, it is clean, safe, close to centre and ferries to Zanzibar. 13 Uhuru Street more

Safari Inn 
Well located into the city and close to the harbour. 10$ for a single room with bathroom - 12$ if you want cable TV!! Doubles for 20$ No hot water. Good Restaurant. No mosquito net but fan. Clean and seems to be safe. more

Q-bar and Guesthouse 
Clean rooms, some a bit noisy from the social club downstairs. Well worth the 55 US$. more

Palm Beach Hotel 
Central location, but shabby rooms, only a few with working showers. Cheap, nevertheless avoid it. more
