Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone had some advice on accommodation in Iran. My plan is to stay in:

Tehran
Isfahan
Shiraz
Yazd

and potentially
Bam

Many thanks.

A general information:
Iran has 25 provinces and in each province there is a major city known as capital.
like mashhad,isfahan,shiraz,kerman and ...

in major cities there is no worry about accomodation,as you can easily find a veriaty of hotels.
Reservation for all over iran can be done in Tehran, but in other major cities it will depend on the agancy, wether the agancy works with your destinaation's hotels or not.
the cust will be of 20$ (cheap 1 star hotels) to 100$ (best 5 star ones).
almost all over the country you can reach the major cities by train,or airplane(depends).
in cities like mashhad which is one of traveling centers in iran, you will be able to rent rooms also easily.
(i dont recommand this one much, beacuse i am not sure of the 100% safty).
best of luck and wishes of great tarvels for all.<p>[ This Message was edited by: farnaz on 2008-04-10 14:47 ]

Hi Kris
You will find some suggestions in my travellog, starting from this page:
http://www.globosapiens.net/travellog/wojtekd.html?de=&page=26.html
But keep in mind that I travel on a budget and this was budget accommodation...
Good luck!

Iran has plenty of hotels, no need to make any reservations. However, the cheap hotels are usually not available for foreigners without a police permission. Many Iranians I met do not understand why foreigners want to stay in cheap places too as "all foreigners have lots of money".

However, if you go away from the main tourist areas you find many extremely friendly people. I spend 7 weeks in Iran and it's up to now (living in Malaysia) the best country I have traveled. Many times I was asked to stay with families but it won't happen in the tourist areas as Tehran, Esfahan, Shiraz, Yazd or Bam. But elsewhere... Ahhhh....

see my bicycle website for what I did there:

My only problem was that my camera had some serious problems so my amount of pictures of the country is limited:(

Pangkor in West Malaysia is for sure one of the lesser known and more beautiful island. www.pulau-pangkor.co-m
