I propos Globo Director premio for best traveller 2005 in practis, no in teori. Dani Serralta is now Africa 8 months (Sudafrica, Kenia, Etiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, etc etc, and eating espanish turron and 12 grapes for 31 december for celebrating new year 2006, in Sudan, no in Spain with familia papa and mama). Dani very good aventurero, go with lions, gorilas and elefants in jungle and no fear, bravo like torero. Wojtekd in 2005 go Madagascar, Asia, Uzbekistan, Caucaso with bandits, very good, also like torero. David in Machu Pichu sick, problems in hospital Peru because eating bad chicken, but no die, survived and now alive in his house in Ingland enyoying Crismas. Maibe 3 premios in 2005 for 3 Globo travellers veri good, Dani, Wojtekd, and Davidx.

If only 1 premio, my voto is for espanish Dani Serralta.

Bravo Dani, best espanish with 8000 points in club Globo! I orgulloso of you!

Toribio from Madrid

A very good idea! I can second (confirm) the nominations and must add my hero "jorgesanchez" for this last year. Together with "daniserallta", "wotjtekd" and "davidx", these four covered the most challenging distances and made the most interesting discoveries in 2005. They show us what modern day adventure is about, true explorers!

More nominations or confirmation? Rudi

I agree with Toribio!

But the main travellers are only two during 2005: daniserralta and woktiek.

Davidx only made a trip to Peru but with organized group, no individual, and his only “adventure” was to get sick for eating a bird. jorgesanchez must be rich, yes, he travels to exotic places but in cruises, without adventure, just paying a lot of money to get in: French Antarctic islands, soon to the Polynesia in another expensive cruise, he is in Russia now but with friends and family members who help him, but that is not the same. Me too, if I was rich I would travel a lot like him or more. But that has no the same value than daniserralta crossing all Africa alone, overland, without friends or family members to help him, looking every day for the cheapest places to sleep, to eat, the bus and truck connexions to cross during six days the difficult border between Kenya and Ethiopia, avoiding thieves, getting visas… and wojtiek is a top high traveller, most experienced, and during this year 2005 has been in Africa overland, Central Asia with the trouble to get the Turkmenistan visa, Bermudas, Madagascar and Comoros, and soon to the Antarctica for his second time… These are real adventure exploits, and not just paying 10.000 euros for a cabin in a cruise, all included, good food and shows on board, as jorgesanchez does.

In my opinion both, daniserralta and wojktek, no more, are the top travellers Globo members during 2005.

...none of the four are rich (as in "wealthy"), specially not Jorge, read his "travel-log" or just how he hitched his way through the USA even sleeping in strange places: www.globosapiens.net/travel-information/San+Antonio-1901.htm

I suppose he is good in organising some sponsorship or cheaper passage but reading ALL his 30 ***** reports he is extreamly rich in travel-experience but travells like a poor "monk"...

I love Dani's contributions too, the amount of web-visits (clicks) he and David get every month outdo the others. For years he and Wotjekd showed the most impresive travel kilometers at GLOBO. Wotj is our top member as to the amount of countries visited (more than 200!)

I have respect for David and specially for his reports. One does not have to travel far to explore and enjoy new experiences! Considering his age and health he has travelled more than MOST of us this year,is in Portugal at the moment. I too was dizzy at 5000m crossing the Andes mountains - they serve oxygene on the train. I wish to God I can still travell in 20 years!!!

Hi everybody!

First of all I want to wish a merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you.

I wish the best for all the Globo members.

Well! Now reading this here in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, I'm really surprised and shocked.

In fact I'm really happy to see that there's people following my adventures as the ones of Wojciech, and others.

Thanks Toribio, Isaac and the others for your support.

(Specially now that I will be alone and lost in Africa during Christmas, New Year, etc... :(

I'm not sure if its a good idea to nominate the best travelers, what's that? How can anyone decide? what makes you the best traveler? mmmm....!!!

That's not a competition, isn't it?

Anyway I'm proud to see that there's people out there reading my tips, reports, etc... ;)

I hope that information will be really useful for the next.

Thanks to all.

Dani!

PS: The only that I wish is see the half of what Wojciech have seen and live the half of adventures as many others as he, lived.

I also think that Dani Serralta has been the most active and courageous Globo traveller member during 2005, and if Globo management plans to create a yearly award for the most dynamic traveller, without doubt Dani deserves this distinction and I vote for him. I am following his adventures, including reports and travel tips, and am amazed! I only know Senegal, and for me Africa is enough; they tried to rob me, to trick me, I almost got sick… and daniserralta is travelling so many months in a row, alone, for countries that only listening to their names I am afraid! I can imagine that by now he is an expert in taking care of himself and his pocket, because I think that he has no sponsors. It is true that the travels change the people (for the better), and I am convinced that daniserralta will see the world different (with more understanding and humanity) when he will be back in his dear Spain. Meanwhile everybody is in home celebrating Christmas, Dani is fighting his way north overland to the Mediterranean and home, looking for an alternative to Sudan, which visa was denied to him and was expelled when trying to bribe the Sudanese border agents, because crossing Africa overland is a powerful dream for him and men without dreams are poor. For me Dani is number one during 2005. Second active Globo traveller in 2005, ummmm, yes, of course! the always daring and indefatigable and admirable Wojciech, a guru for the travellers.

Hope this will help. Merry Christmas!
