Hotels are very cheap in Turkey, do consider *** or **** accommodation. If your visit is just travelling, because of culture and language differences I recommend a package deal with one of the charter-airlines. They get such good prices for the hotels you could consider the flight or hotel as free! We used www.oeger.de (Oeger Tours) for a 3night ***hotel stay for only $150 included flight from Berlin, hotel and guided day trips! They now have an 8-day around Turkey tour all inclusive for $600 too which is attractive. Riviera flight/hotel package deals are even less. Im sure there are such flights out of Amsterdam for you too, we met travellers from all over the world there. If its just the hotel you need, GLOBO lists quite a few hotels, otherwise also see www.istanbulhotels.com
Thanks for your answer and the link to the istanbul hotels.
I know hotels are inexpensive in Istanbul, still we want to stay in budget accommodation or 2* .
We can't buy a package deal because we start our trip in Istanbul and travel on to Edirne, Greece, Italy and France then we will take a train back home (the Netherlands). We booked a budget flight, one way, Eindhoven (where we live) to Istanbul.
