I have been to Argentina years ago... There were high inflation and profitable for travellers free market rate higher then official bank rate for USD. Does anybody know how does it look now? Is there paralel free currency market - official or unofficial?
Thanks... Wojtek

Hi Globies
After weeks I got a message from Argentina I want to share:
....There is no real "other market" for currency exchange here. A couple of the stores offer a bit better exchange rate if you buy in dollars but only if you are making a purchase. You might want to monitor this web site
http://www.dolarsi.com/ as of today rate seems to be about 3.03 to the dollar. One word of advice, if you are dependent on the Cambio's for getting pesos, as opposed to an ATM card, it seems that many of them lower the exchnage rates on Friday and raise them back up on Monday. It can sometimes be as much as 10% less. Can we say taking advantage of tourist? So you might want to make certain that you have plenty of cash on Thursday....
