Dear Members and Staff
I got my first "Nigerian Spam" today in my mail, heard often of it. Please be cautious, these are gangsters with very bad tricks, well known for years now. They are Africans trying to get visas with YOUR help. The problem is that when they arrive on a tourist visa with all the family and friends those millions are still not on you bank account and your home might just suddenly be turned into a refugee camp permanently. You cannot do anything about it because YOU signed the big deal and the small print to support them!
The best way to support the third world is for them to help themselves at home financed though reliable and efficient help programms like UNICEF, one can support children, each for as little as $5 per month.

I hopt this was not within GLOBOmail? GLOBO does have a spam filter system installed that triggers for such kind of e-mails. However some mails get through as it is difficult to find the line between spam and not spam. Usually such accounts get found anyway and deleted within short time.
Please let me know if you received through GLOBO and the account is still active.

Wow! That was quick Staff - thanks for removing the messages and that members account. I hope that no one fell for that trick. GLOBO is safe again :-)
The message was in the GLOBOmail but obviously the guy started at the top of the members list and quickly found out that your anti-spam system was blocking further mass mail. Perhaps he only got to two or three of us and gave up, he went off-line as soon as I logged in.
Thanks for a safe website!

OK. You are fast as light! Just pressed save and a few seconds later I got an e-mail as reply on that post from you. Thought that must be an error, but in deed there was a reply :-) Wow!

The best way to end these scams is to report them to the abuse e-mail at the provider. in otherwords, if the scammer asks you to reply to XXXX@yahoo.co.uk; forward the e-mail or copy it and send it to abuse@yahoo.co.uk. This way the provider can delete the address and intercept any e-mails directed to it. Same is true of lottery scams. If yo can send the detailed header, all the better - it gives law enforcement the IP address the e-mail originated from.

If members get or see such spam, please report it to staff immediately so that it may be removed. There should be a special spam button?

please report spam always through the spam reporting function of GLOBO. There is an icon underneath the members profile picture with a red sign that allows you to report the user if he has <500 points and you do have >500 points. The reporting function is semiautomated so far but might become even more automated in the future. If it works well it will allow seniors to freeze an account if several seniors report it. All of you can help to filter out those who pass the automated filters and can not be detected by computer programs.
