Hi Globies
Yes, I know from the geography that it is Polynesia...
But I hear that those guys from the airlines invented that
they will qualify IPC (this is the code for Easter Island) as
a part of South American continent. So it seems that if in your ticket you have an allowance of 4 free stops in Sth America going onward to IPC you can use only 3 of them on the real continent... Is this true?
Thanks dear experts...

... geologicaly, Easter Island (politically Chile) seems to be on a volcanic hot-spot or mid-ocean ridge just like Iceland is (but politically Europe) or Hawaii (politically North America). It is roughly half way between Tahiti (French Polynesia) and South America. It is one of the most remotest parts of our globe. I read it is a common link for RTW trips using the "LAN Chile" stopover between Santiago and Papeete but think that accessing the central South Pacific via Hawaii would be cheaper and assume that it would NOT count as a standard coupon stop in S.America. Ask "LAN Chile", they will know best.
