Hello everybody:

Anybody who has a good idea on how to make globo better known on the internet among fellow travellers is welcome to post a reply on this message.

Thank you!

Andy

hi andy,

maybe a distributed grassroots approach? Design (or have someone design for you) a little flyer to advertise globosapiens, featuring the key things such as photos etc. Make one work with black and white laser printing, one with colours. Make them available as PDF for both A4 and USletter page formats. Ask distant friends and globosapients to print out a sheet, cut them out and post at a youth travel agents' notice board (the real thing made of cork, hanging in the waiting area).

Try to get featured in a small newspaper or magazine. media is contagious, with luck and charisma it will get quoted somewhere else and again somewhere else...

good luck! best, katbat

another idea: your postcards.
1. you MUST first make more photos available for choice.

"Please note that you can send a postcard from every picture which is online at globosapiens.net!"

Having, what, six photos there and saying that all photos can be used is frustrating!!! how is one to access all those photos?????????????

"Pick your favourite picture and locate the letter on the right. "

I am sorry, I really could not understand what this referred to.

Focus on the card creating experience! Cheat and look at other good card-sending sites. Even though this is a travel-site, the country of origin is not a good theme. better themes could be: relaxation, adventure, fun, wonders of the world, humour, colourfulness, etc etc. arranged by these groupings, people get a better sense of what they are looking for and what is available. You may find that pre-selected photos arranged by themes is a better option than having everything available (and yet only six).

After you get the postcard section working properly, people will start using it and it will advertise you on a person-to-person way, which is highly effective.

best, katbat

I am glad that Katbat voiced my concerns as well about the type of pictures to upload for postcard purposes. My photography style is usually less of buildings/monuments and more of local faces and scenery. I am glad, Andy, that you approved those even though they might have appeared somewhat out of the categories that you have in place. You still want more? :p

Lover of just five things - travelling, photography, thick crust pizzas, the xy-chromosomes, the Italians and the Dutch. Well, I can't count, so?

hi
thanks, andy, for the note. just to prove that I can also come to the point quickly: the feature of being able to send any picture from anywhere is great, don't lose it. But, consider a special selection of more "emotionally evocative" photos picked by themes, and make these stand out.

best,
katbat

thank you all for the great ideas.

Please continue the discussion on categories for pictures here:
http://www.globosapiens.net/forum/viewtopic/000290000280000.html

Post all ideas on any picture categories (feel free to list them) into this existing topic.

This will also be of course benefitial for the postcard section.

Thanx

Contact other travel sites online and ask them to put a link to your site on their website. Most will say yes.
