By December, I was all set for a vacation in Juneau for March. Then in January I got the bad news that I'm being laid off my job after 18 years. Now this is a trip of necessity. I'll be going to Juneau to jobhunt. I ask of anyone living in Alaska for info on general employment info. For years I've been wanting to settle Alaska, now I'm taking this opportunity to go for it. I'm mainly interested in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, & Fairbanks, but am willing to go where the jobs are. Any help would be appreciated. Who know? We might become neighbors & best friends.
Update:I was just in Juneau last week & the job prospects were very slim. Further internet research found sites which assure that Anchorage has more opportunities. I'll be there next month. Also read that the Mat-Su valley has had an 80% employment growth in the past 12 years; more than the entire nation (19%); so I'm also looking into Palmer & Wasilla. Any further suggestions & insights would be appreciated.

My missions to Anchorage & Juneau (for a job & an apartment) has failed. So I'll be staying in Seattle a little while longer. Meanwhile I'm studying my next attempt to a new interest -- the Kenai Peninsula. What can you tell me about relocating to Kenai, Soldotna, or Seward?
