Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could give me some info regarding where to go in Mexico City. Especially interested in backpacker strips, cheap places to stay.

Hi there,

The cheapest places to stay are in the centre of the city near the main Zocalo, it is not as clean (or safe) as the more upmarket parts of the city like the Zona Rosa but we had no problems. To be honest I can't remember the name of our hotel, it had large vaulted ceilings which for some seriouly close noises from the neighbours when trying to sleep. I just picked it out of the Lonely Planet & phoned & made a booking(no email) & it was cheap. See my story on Mexico City for places to see as there are too many to list, my favourites the pyramids of Teoteohuacan, Shrine of Guadalupe & the National Musem. Even though it is a huge city I really enjoy visiting it. There are loads of days tours that you can book with local agencies

Email me if you need some more info.

Cheers,

Kerrie

Hi!

A nice hostel in Mexico City is Hostal Moneda. Located close to the zocalo. It's not the cheapest one but u get a great breakfast!! Defenitely worth it! For a dorm it's about 100 pesos and for a private we payed 270 or something....

What's nice to visit is the Chapultepec parc. Easy to reach by metro. I really enjoyed that place, it's like an oase of quietness within this hectic city.

Have fun!
