I have a very long friend list. I like the idea of its meaning something - like 'These are people with whom I often correspond or we share attitudes.'
When I invite somebody to my friend list, it is an offer of that sort of relationship. Of course over time some entries become meaningless, reflecting no blame on either party.
So I mean to tidy up shortly and remove people from the list, if we have not made contact for a long time. No offence is intended and it is certainly not a 'declaration of war.'
If it should be important to anyone to remain on and we haven't been in contact for yonks, let me know and I won't delete you.

David, Ravi and I deleted our entire "friends" lists about a year ago stating that ALL travellers are our friends. I regret that now and I think your method is a far better solution. I noticed one cannot request someone to be a friend twice but one can if the friend was deleted by ones self. Thus, I can slowly build up a new list again.
