as GLOBO is growing day by day with content and new members, demand for more power in terms of data crunching and storage as well is comming up.
We just ordered a brand new high performance Opteron Server to add it to the existing machines. This will boost performance greatly and lead to better response times. I will keep you informed as soon as the new server has been added to the cluster.
thank you Horourke for the compliments but actually I have to redirect them to you guys! My job is just to provide the members with tools, functionality and space the content is all yours. So the praises belong to the GLOBO members :-)
@rangutan: There is no video upload coming up soon. I do not see the benefit worth the risk, the time and the money. If you look at yout. or others you will find that they do struggle with copy right so much that the whole company is in danger. Checking video for copy right infrigments is even harder than pictures. Loads of resources would go into development of a video engine, storage and so on. Currently there are also no working models to insentivise the huge amount of traffic so GLOBO would need investment and loose it independence. Just a few points, but there are loads more on that.
The new server will bring back speed to GLOBOsapiens and new storage capacity as well as new backup posibilities. It's like building a new house next to yours because your family is growing :-)

Hi Andy,
Is the the new "hardware" active?
I prefere GLOBO for its usual quick web-speed but tonight for the first time our server is extreamly slow, since about 10pm GMT. Not the net, I tested other accesses which seem normal... Reboot?
the new hardware is not integrated so far. As you see there is a need for it! It needs more testing for integration and other things before it can go into live service. Will come up in the next days.
