Old capital Pretoria is now called "Tshwane". Durban, one of the biggest ports in the world is now called "eThekwini"
Travelers to South Africa will in future need to be aware and use up-to-date maps and pronunciation skills! Cities, streets, airports, rivers, structures and parks are being rapidly renamed. Also GLOBO will need these added to the place-name databank!
The controversy over this in other articles ripples in rumours of civil war and even genocide but we will not discuss that here. Does anyone have a full list/link for our databank? The official site for place names in RSA is closed or moved:
