Hi, your reaction is understandable. A moderator's job always requires a judgement call and is hardly an easy task. We have always been instructed to watch out for and remove links bordering on advertising especially by brand new members. That said, this thread is now locked since it is a forum about backpacking and not about the philosophy of posting messages or of the job of moderation. I would encourage you to take this further at the comments and suggestions forum if you so wish to. Thank you for your contribution to GloboSapiens.

I must clearly say that inzaghi is right. You are a new member and your only action was to advertise a new website. If you are after promoting your website for backbackers on GLOBOsapiens.net we would be happy to place your link on our travel community.
It would be unfair to the payed advertisers if we place links like yours inside the public forum. Besides this, I really think that a gurillia marketing forum post does more harm than good. Have a look at the link I posted, we have good feedback on that kind of advertisement and I am sure it will increase your google rank as well.
