Well done staff! I missed seeing that the GLOBO database for places now does not only include Cities/Towns, Mountains and Parks but Glaciers, Lakes, Beaches and Islands too. This is great since previously pictures were so difficult to be filed under the next nearest city name. If Rivers (would be used for Waterfalls too) and "Others" were added, the databank would be complete to cover every spot of a kind on earth. For those few "Others", only about fifty I can think of, perhaps words: Desert, Jungle, Sea, Ocean or Straits after the names

Does it also contains National Parks? I recently uploaded some pictures taken in Mildford Sound under Queenstown which is the closest city, but it would have been more accurate to put under the national park.

Yes, National Parks & Reserves, not city parks. When uploading pictures or reports just enter the name in the required field and the databank suggests places of all kinds. I couldnt find Milford Sound in the databank, might be just a bay or within a park of another name. If its really an official National Park by that name, suggest it with a referance to the staff so that it can be added.

hello Rudi, hi everyone, may i suggest that locations such TOWN or VILLAGE be added to "place" when uploading photo? i think it would be easier for members (not only me) not to feel awkward when they took a photo of few huts in the middle of nowhere and the only option for naming 'it ' is CITY, ( not realy comfortable feeling, if one want to be accurate in locating such village. ) martin
PS. maybe for our own peace of mind we could narrow places names to naming CITY locations bigger than maybe 50 000 people ,TOWN less than that , and VILLAGE under 5000> 2000 inhabitans. if it's to complicated don't worry about it( leave sleepless nights for me :)

Martin, thanks for bringing this to attention again. Andy wrote there will be a "relaunch" of GLOBO one day and matters like basic wording and a long list of "Verbesserungsvorschläge" must be considered by then. Yes "city" should rather be "city/town" or even better, "place". This site seems to be translated from German so help is needed from the international community to make it better. Every suggestion, I am sure, will count. Another example, "People" in the yellow bar should rather read "Members", people are unimportant, members may feel more special! RR
