I just wanted to place some thoughts about rating. As we are a community with members from all over the world, rather then just from one country we do not only have other cultural backgrounds but also different taste. Different taste of course is among every community of human beeings, and this is a good thing. I am trying to point out, that the rating of pictures might be different by each member due to his taste. He/She likes or dislikes it. One might love empty pictures, some find it boring. This is why we do build an arithmetic average from all ratings to represent the overall rating. So if someone finds a picture worth 2* and another one 4*, well fine! The more people rate, the more representative it will become. We could also use the median instead of arithmetic average, but I do not see a huge difference by using this. It is rather the fact that we do have to accept AND tolerate the taste of others. Over and under-ratings if they exist will be found sooner or later, so I do not believe that any GLOBO member is into such thing and despite that I believe we are here for fun. Going through the logs of ratings, my impression is confirmed. A good diversety of ratings among a diversified community :-)
