Next month I will be in Switzerland for a week. I will visit Bern, Brig and Chur. What should I see in these places? I will only be in each of these cities for one day.
Any suggestions?

I was in Bern last summer for three days and I didn't want to leave! It's extremely peaceful and very enchanting. If you follow the path along the Aare River past the bear pits you will come upon a beautiful spring which is lovely to soak hot, tired feet in! The view from the top of the Rose Garden is beautiful and your visit would not be complete without hopping in the river and floating down with the locals. Hope you enjoy your stay!

Your Post suggests you are taking a train ride from bern to Chur and then the galcier express to brig, is it so?
Anyhow, bathing in the aare river in october may not be a very good idea as the temperature will have dropped quite a bit by then.
Im not having too much time at the moment but will be glad to give you some more advice, if you like, as im living in the area (Thun). If you give me your itinerary I could go in detail about the different locations.

Spot on! I take the glacier train. It is a package I booked:
Day 1:High speed train Utrecht (the Netherlands) to Basel and then on to Bern,
Day 2: in Bern, by now I have found enough info about Bern, after all it is Switzerland’s capital.
Day 3 Train to Brig.
Day 4 Day in Brig. I have no idea what to see there except the Stockalper Palace.
Day 5 Glacier Express to Chur.
Day 6 Day in Chur
Day 7 Back to the Netherlands
I have some info about Chur, but not much. Brig seems nothing to have on offer. I had a look in Lonely Planet and Rough Guide but they just tell it is train and traffic hub.
What is the weather like in the last week of October?
I would appreciate your answer but there is no hurry.

When you take the train to Brig on day 3 you could hop off in Thun (thats where I live) take the boat trip round the lake Thun spend an afternoon in Beatushölen (Caves) and hop on the train again in Spiez. A day well spent.
In Brig there really is nothing more than the stockalper palace as far as I know. I work with a young girl from naters and she also knew nothing else to recomend you.
Near Brig is Mund where they grow saffron, it could be something to be after.
You could also hop on the bus and go up a mountain resort such as saas fee, riederalp, belalp and take a walking trip. There are Cable cars going up the mountains.
In Chur there are the following things to see and do:
Take the train to arosa and go up the weisshorn by cable car
Take the postauto to Tschiertschen (a very small mountain village where my mother comes from) and walk all the way to molinis and hop on the train back to chur again.
Go to malans and make some wine tasting there are lots of wineries there.
There is a cathredal in chur as it is a bishop town.

Weather generally in october is quite good, you have a good view because there isn't that much humidity and hot air around. Datime it can be over 20°c nights are much cooler. Taka a jumper for the evenings.

just another tip I've got for you on Chur. Because I've been to Maloja quite a few times, we have to pass Chur (jump trains). Every time on our way home, we stop in Chur and spend the late afternoon and evening. I can tell they have some good restaurants over there. It's quite easy to find those. Simply, when you are standing in front of the bigg mall, go to the left till you reach the side of the mall. You will be on a crossing of a coouple of streets. When you go down the street on your right (leaving the mall behind you) you'll find some very tastefull restaurants on the leftside of the street. Many Italian cooking. Great pizzas!!

Just a word about swiss cusine...
When in Bern try to get some Rösti or Berner Platte (Rösti = Pan fried poatoes, Hashed browned potatoes, Berner Platte = Sauerkraut, Potatoes, Sausagges, and smoked meat)
In Wallis eat fondue and raclette (Both got something to do with hot cheese ;-)
In Chur eat Pizzokels, Capuns, Maluns, Bündner Gerstensuppe....
Pizzokel = some special form of pasta
Capuns = Another pasta speciality in a wrap of vegetable
Maluns = A special type of roasted potatoes
Gerstensuppe = A rich tasty barley soup
At this time of the year you will also be able to get some very good venison, deer or chamois. If a restaurant says: "Wild aus eigener Jagd" that means that sombody of the staff or family did hunt the meat
"Wild aus einheimischer Jagd" means local hunted meat.
You sure can have a lot of very good Italian food all over Switzerland, but hey it's Switzerland not Italy you are going to ;-)
I know that some of the places I recomended you do not serve the typical Swiss meals but are very good places to go to.
Enjoy food in Switzerland it's always great... at least most of the times and if you know where to go to ;-)
