Just wondering how terrorism against foreigners has affected your feelings about travel (if at all). Have you changed your travel plans at all? Do you continue with your plans despite the recent events against tourists? How about expatriate lifestyles? I am an expatriate living in Hong Kong and have noticed a change in where expatriates go to hang out. Some expats don't want to go to Lan Kwai Fong area anymore because there are too many foreigners there and they think there's a slight risk for the their safety. Many expats in Hong Kong have cancelled trips to Indonesia and some won't go to Malaysia or the Phillipines. I've cancelled my Bali trip for now but I still plan on going to Thailand early next year. I choose not to live in fear but at the same time I am guided by my common sense when it comes to these types of things. What are your thoughts?

Difficult, isn't it? I confess to a mixture of anger and confusion. I do know that the world needs to recognise that, however tragic and incomprehensible, there is a reason for it.
We need to recognise it and work together to be kinder, more aware and global in our management of humanity and the planet. We are all on the same team and have an obligation to our fellow man to provide a safe, successful way forward that is in everyone's interests, not just shareholders.
That's my 2 cents worth anyway.
As far as future plans. Well, I'm not putting anything on hold or changing commitments. Having said that, if I was travelling to a very popular western-dominated enclave of a politically sensitive or influencial country, YES, I would probably think again.
Sad, isn't it. I cannot articulate my concern and feelings for the Balinese people. So beautiful, so innocent and so open.
We are an embarrassment to ourselves. And the strange thing is I think we know why but do we really want to change?

I work for a major international airline, so of course anything that goes around the world will affect me in different ways. My career, and personal life (as I travel for pleasure not on business) haven`t been on the same level since the major publicity on Terrorism, but also since SARS and other ailments.
One has to be realist, terrorism and ailments will always exist. Paris is well known for waves of terrorism for years, yet travel to and from Paris hasnt been altered.
I still travel intensively, and will continue doing so. I do verify the status of the coutry, area, I visit but without trusting only one channel of information. The media aren`t as accurate as one would love. Also they do tend to exagerate, unfortunately.
My travel plans continues, hope yours continues too..:-)
