Just go there, especiallu Sumba I found exciting. Get some kind of transport and visit some of the villages on the coastline. Many are still beautiful and traditional (and if you're lucky) a tribal chief invites you to marry his daughter (happened to me some years ago, which I carefully refused by telling him I would come back when I had spoken to my parents).
Personally I found Rincon more interesting then Komodo since the animal life is very varied. The lizards are huge, never go alone and carry a stick or some stone with you.
Sumbawa: forget it, nothing much.
Flores, I loved it. Lots of culture, weaving and batik to be seen. Inlands very traditional.
Hope this helps
