Hey Andreas,
It's funny that you chose Melbourne as a favourite place to live in. I agree it has the most culture (I know we don't have much of that here in Oz) and diversity of restaurants and fashion but still many Aussies would not want to live there. In fact, we have a saying that Melbourne always has 4 seasons in a day.
I love to travel but for everything you need at your fingertips my personal choice the Gold Coast of course!

Vitoria (Spain, i think it is the best city in spain to live, according to some national statistics ot whatever...prices, parks, quality of life..all those things...)
Helsinki (humm, the weather, i know..)
La Hania (greece)
and, why not? I like my city....Granada (www.granada.org)

in spite of the popularity of the Goldcoast - with all those touristy things :-) I have to go for Melbourne!
That ' 4 seasons in a day' thing is not really as bad as it's made out to be. It's just another bit of the rivalry that exists between Sydney and Melbourne, that goes back to the days of federation.

Thanx guys for all the replies. It's verry interesting to see what different "flawors" there are. Kerrie loves the gold coast ( I was once lucky to meet her in Surfers Paradise :-) and hey.. why not if you are used to this temperature you can have a great live there. The beaches there are just stunning, especially if you go up to the whitsundays and see "White heaven beach".
Mike has all my respect! The redcenter is soooooo hot, I would not survive a single week in there, I need water in any kind... let it bee just a river a lake, or hmmmm... a beach!!
Eesti.. Vitoria sounds good, have never heard of it though. Can you give us more details on that? Would be great to hear more on it!!
Barcelona is nice, I remember that my parents took me there back when I was little.
Soo... yeah! Great to see what you guys like. Continue posting on that topic as I think it is a good and great way to learn about places and different "flavours"
Cheers, Andy
PS: Kerrie: I am currently in Melbourne and woooow! I love it! There is so oooooo much culture here, the public transport is just amazing. You do not need a car to get anywhere. Citie parks where ever you go and soooooo much to see. Of cource there is the see with famous ST. Kilda beach and there are lakes inside the gardens, great outdoor plays of William
Shakespeare inside the botanic gardens and much much more!
If my journey accross Australia would have had started here I might have stayed in OZ :-)

It's absolutely fantastic when the temperature drops from 35 - 40 C to about 22 C and humidity is arond about 55 to 60%.
Having said all that - I still prefer our deserts and be rather there than in any city.
Cheers,
Mike.

Hey Mike,
You know when you live on the Gold Coast you actually know all those hidden places to go and avoid the touristy bits :-), great beaches, cheap restaurants, cheap cost of living, 50+ golf courses. What more do you need except of course if you feel like you want to pretend you are on holidays and then you guessed it all the touristy things are right on your doorstep!
I'm guilty of it, I have never been out in the red centre. But will definately be in touch with a few tips from you before I do.
I'm like Andreas I've gotta have some water nearby.
Enjoy.
Kerrie

yeah ... nearby water's goooood! :-)) Especially if it is a beach!!! Some people say I am crazy, because I took over 130 pictures of the beach while I was on Frazer Island :-)) From my point of fiew they look all different :-)
Australia made a good run into lots of top 10 spots. However I dont really know how they made this list, since some possitions seem to be verry odd ??!! But... interesting article.
