When I look at that trash I wonder if they they have a sorting system at all that that would reduce such problems in future. In Germany we call most of our trash "Wertstoff" (gold)! When worthfull paper, compost, glass, metal, plastic, batteries, clothing and "Sperrmüll" (houshold furniture and appliances) are seperately exposed only a very small amount of trash remains!
In Asia and Africa plastic is a problem but when one leaves a pile of paper, glass or metal anywhere it is stollen within hours for it's recycling value!
Yes, trash is a big put-off to travellers and the local people should know that. If you had a restaurant or hotel, would you allow trash on your doorstep? Landfills full? Garbage!
