Why is it that some members travel reports are so long?
I would loved to have added more about the destinations I have already done, but was limited to only 1000 characters in "Other Recommendations", as well as other sections. Take for example Gard Karlsen's report on Male, Maldives. His Or section is probably 1000 words.
Is this due to him being a premium member, or has the format changed, and reports are no longer allowed to be that long?

thank you for your question. Some older reports are longer because the system has just not checked properly for the character amount. It was also allowed to post more characters before during a short test period. Those test have shown that is way better to have a common format which is limited. It is like publishing a good article in a magazine, the difficulty lays in making the report better not longer. But this is something which can be discussed enlessly. There is no difference in publishing between premium and basic memberships (don't bring me to any ideas like that :-). If you have a look on britmans reports for example you will see that those are pretty long, but most of them are in standard max format. Still a lot to read and publish :-)

a map would be wonderful. I was just thinking about that the other day. But where to get all the maps from? Thats definatelly a thing to go into once the new Munich office is in place. Thanx for the suggestion.
Maps - as you say are a wonderful idea. Only one problem - they are usually copyrighted! So looks like GLOBO would have to acquire copyright free maps for members to use - now - how much would that cost Andreas?
If you try and use Microsoft Autoroute or any other Microsoft Atlas type software to illustrate an area in your report -(I attempted it once) then you soon get a nasty message advising you that they will sue you to high heaven for breach of their copyright!
So is all that we can do, describe accurately in our reports just where an area or location is and, look it up in our online Atlas or remember the real thing - paper books called atlases, well, they remain still wonderful for learning geography and finding places!! You can always search Google independently - I bet all the reports on here will find a map somewhere on Google, even if it means opening up another concurrent browser frame whilst reading a report or looking at a location.
